Long ago, humans and a group of Ancients worked together to create a last safe haven for humanity. Humans were laid to rest in Cinder Vault which were meant to protect their bodies from falling to the Shroud. They've waited patiently to be woken from their dreamless slumber by those born from the flame.

In the end, only few people could be saved from the Cinder Vaults. The rest of humanity was lost to darkness, consumed by the Shroud, which corrupts the land. While the final bastion of mankind may be weakened, there is hope that the Flameborn can still bring light to Embervale once more.
